Summary

SurveyGoo surveyed the Nation to look at sleep habits and behaviours

Sleep is increasingly being seen as a crucial part of a healthly lifestyle, alongside good diets and regular exercise.

Survey Finding Highlights

The survey found that 37% of adults in the UK believe they do not get enough sleep. Most age groups report getting fewer than the recommended 7 hours a night. Overall, 45% say they are getting 6 hours or less. The survey shows that there is a significant variation in sleeping habits among different age groups, with the 45-54 age group getting the least sleep and 35-44 year olds getting the most.

Results: Key Findings

  • Only 16% of 45-54 year olds are getting 7 hours sleep
  • Almost half (48%) of 35-44 years olds achieve 7 hours sleep a night
  • 42% have adopted same bedtime routines
  • But only 20% commit to NOT using electronic devices late at night
  • 21% keep a rough record of their sleep and 12% use an app to measure sleep
